What a remote office team member actually costs compared to a local hire

A plain breakdown of what a U.S. small business pays for a local office hire versus a full-time remote team member from the Philippines, Latin America, or Africa through Hybryd.

Every owner we talk to has done some version of this math on a napkin. Here is the version with the parts most people forget.

The local hire is more than the salary

Say you hire an office manager or customer support rep in Utah, Texas, or Florida. The posted wage is the starting point. On top of that you pay the employer side of payroll taxes, workers comp, and unemployment insurance. If you offer health benefits, add those. Then there is the desk, the computer, the software seat, the parking, and the time your best person spends training them.

Then there is turnover. Front office roles at small businesses turn over fast. Every time someone leaves you pay again: the job post, the interviews, the weeks of lower output while the new person learns your systems, and the mistakes that happen in between. Most owners never put a number on this, but it is usually the biggest line.

What a Hybryd team member costs

You pay Hybryd one flat monthly rate per team member. That covers the person's full-time wage, our recruiting and vetting, HR, international payroll, and the ongoing support and development we provide. There is no separate payroll tax line, no benefits administration, and no equipment to buy.

For most of our partners, that lands at roughly half of what a comparable local hire costs once you add everything up. We put the exact number in front of you on the first call, before you commit to anything, so you can compare it against your own numbers rather than ours.

Where the savings come from, and where they don't

The savings come from cost of living. A skilled professional in the Philippines, Mexico, Nigeria, or Colombia can earn a strong local wage that is still well below a U.S. salary for the same work. That is the whole arbitrage, and it is not a secret.

The savings do not come from paying people badly. Hybryd team members are full-time, paid well for their market, and supported with training, community, and bonuses. That is why they stay, and retention is where the real savings show up over a year or two.

The hidden cost people miss: churn

A cheap hire who leaves in four months is expensive. We built Hybryd around retention because that is where the math actually works. A dedicated talent manager stays with your team member after placement, checks in, and handles the growth conversations most small businesses never get to. Our partners keep people for years, not quarters.

When a remote hire is not the right move

If the role needs someone physically in the building most of the day, this is not a fit. If you need a part-timer for a six-week project, also not a fit; we only place full-time. And if your systems are entirely on paper, you will want to move a few things online first. We will tell you that on the call if it applies.

How to run the comparison yourself

  1. Take the local wage and add 20 to 30 percent for employer taxes, insurance, and benefits.
  2. Add equipment, software, and workspace.
  3. Estimate how many months the last two people in that role stayed, and what each departure cost you in time.
  4. Compare that to one flat monthly number from Hybryd with retention built in.

If you want us to walk through it with your actual numbers, book a call. It takes twenty minutes and we will tell you if it does not pencil out.

Questions we get about this

Is there a setup fee or long contract?

We walk through pricing and terms on the first call so there are no surprises. You see the flat monthly rate before you commit to anything.

Do I pay the team member directly?

No. You pay Hybryd one monthly rate, and we handle the team member's wage, international payroll, and HR.

What if it doesn't work out?

Your talent manager stays involved after placement. If a match isn't working, we fix it, including finding a replacement.
